What it is
Most notes apps ask you to organize before you write: folders, tags, pages. Notebook skips all of that. Each day is a plain ruled list of notes and tasks that you edit in place, and a separate list holds what you want to get done this week.
It works offline. Signing in to sync across devices is optional, and your notes stay private when they sync.
How it's built
- Local first. Notes are saved to a database on your device, so everything is instant and works offline. Sync happens in the background.
- Encrypted sync. Sync runs on Starling, my own sync library. Notes are encrypted on the device before they leave it, so the server never sees them.
- Built for more than one device. Edits from your phone and laptop merge piece by piece, so moving a note on one never undoes rewording it on the other.
- On the web. It installs from the browser on any device and opens straight to today.
